Time To Get Rid Of My Kids’ Bedding
By ATM in Shopping | 0 comments
I had houseguests come stay with me recently and one of them pointed out the fact that my bedroom is the only room in my house that doesn’t look grown-up. I hadn’t really thought about it before but it’s true; my bedroom still looks like a kid’s bedroom. This is due in no small part to the fact that I have kids bedding on my bed.
Okay, okay, so it’s not really kids bedding per se. It’s queen-size bedding for my adult bed. And it’s not the horse bedding of my girlhood. Still, it is funky animal print bedding that is better suited to the late teens and early twenties which are now well behind me. It’s definitely not grown-up bedding.
Does it matter that my bedroom still looks a little childish? I think it does. I really believe that the surroundings we place ourselves in can help us move forward or they can hold us back. Having a bedroom that looks like a kid’s bedroom isn’t really helping me to move forward in my life (let alone in my romantic relationships!)
So I guess it’s time to do some shopping. I haven’t quite figured out what "adult bedding" looks like yet or want I want my room to look like when it’s done. But I think the process of defining what my adult me is all about is going to help me move beyond the past.
