When Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa and the other winter time holidays hit, people go in two directions; they go completely mad and run about the malls in efforts to find the perfect gifts and get caught up in the commercial part of the holidays, or look for more humanity friendly ways to contribute.

If you look on the ASPCA website, you can find out information on the closest shelters to you and make donations of dog beds, blankets, pillows, toys, and food for the dogs in the shelters. Often times, beds for dogs can really help to make a lonely dog just a bit more comfy at night in an otherwise rather uncomfortable area, so consider gifts like these or other things that shelter dogs can use. Dog beds and other items aren’t the only donations that local shelters can use.

They can always use donations of money or your time helping out during the holidays, when so many puppies and kitties go out as gifts for Christmas. Find a way to contribute to your local ASPCA shelter or humane society and see in which ways your local shelter animals could use you this year.

The winter time can be a frustrating time for any person, but if you can find a way to put your heart out there and get involved in something in your community and you have a love for animals, donating items or time and resources to your local shelters and humane societies can make such a difference, both to you and the future pets of your community.
