As a new student at George Washington University I don’t know many people so I spend a lot of time either studying or working out at the gym. Since my family is planning Christmas break in Hawaii I’m exercising often in hopes of looking good in my Ed Hardy bikini!
My daily routine at the gym allows me to recognize the regulars. What staggers me is to see the people who show up every single day working on their body yet ignoring their dental image. One person I notice has the accent of a Texas boy, a body Michelangelo would have been proud to sculpt, yet the teeth of a tobacco chewer. Cowboys are cute but it makes me wonder if there isn’t some fabulous Washington DC cosmetic dentist from whom this person could greatly benefit. I feel like taking an ad out in the The Washington Post advising my cowboy to wash, rinse, and repeat ‘till those stains are gone.
Sometimes I feel like I’m too picky, like a character from a Seinfeld rerun. Is it too much to ask for a ‘Matt Damon’ smile? I can’t stand bad teeth and really the first thing I notice is a person’s grin.
Between classes last week a hotty asked me to Friday Live Jazz. I looked at him and wished some super hero (we could call him dapper dentist DC ) would swoop down and give him a touch of Washington DC invisalign combined with a zap of whitener. I would have then said yes. Am I being too harsh?

I own a real estate company in Fort Lauderdale Florida. The market has been very tough for a lot of the real estate firms here as it has been in most parts of the country. We have been doing very well though. Before the sharp decline in home prices really took off, we made a commitment to become the local experts when it comes to short sales. Short sales occur when a homeowner in foreclosure owes more on the house than what it is worth, so the bank sells it for less than what is owed on it. The bank is the one that ends up taking the loss, and it is more common than most people might think.
It turns out that this was a pretty good model for our business to take. I have added a whole bunch of new agents which really doesn’t cost me anything more. However, I have had to hire a full time administrative assistant and two full time transaction coordinators which means I need to supply them with FL health insurance. Well I’m here to tell you that Florida small group health insurance isn’t cheap! I think at this point I have talked to every single Ft. Lauderdale health insurance agent over the course of the last couple of weeks. I have found a few companies that will give me the best prices, but it definitily is more than I had ever anticipated. Shop around folks!

Are you seeking franchise business opportunities? If you’ve ever wanted to own your own business without any of the hassle of starting from scratch, then a baseball franchise opportunity could provide your solution. If you’ve ever held an interest in sports, then your dreams of entrepreneurship and managing a training facility can be combined and realized by starting a sports franchise. What if you don’t love baseball, or feel as though you don’t know enough about it? Baseball, the national sport of the United States, is not that difficult to learn. Of course, there are intricacies involved, as with every sport, but the basic rules are simple to understand. After all, if they were too complex, no one would bother to play the game! Learning about the sport can be fun; you can even attend a game. A minor league game is a good way to see the sport in action without having to pay major league prices. After that, you’ll be excited to start your new business, and of course, because it’s a franchise, you won’t have to create everything yourself. Branding, advertisement, a website and easy access to supplies and methods will be made available to you as you begin your new business.

For the last four years, my friend John and I had been best friends through the rigors of academics, lousy jobs and the U.S. Army. Well, the Army part was mostly his problem because he was the one doing ROTC, but I can tell you that there were plenty of times that I wanted to go out drinking or take a fly fishing trip over the weekend and he couldn’t because he had PT at 5 a.m. Monday through Friday.
Anyway, he had finally commissioned and it was time for him to report to Fort Benning, GA and subsequently to Iraq. We had already planned our “last hurrah” road trip through the majority of the Southwest and Deep South of the country, which was almost guaranteed to be an epic goodbye in itself, but I felt like we needed one more thing to make it complete: a little GA fly fishing.
John loved fly-fishing. Ever since he was a kid, he and his dad took a weeklong summer trip to Canada to go fly-fishing in seclusion. And even as a 22-year-old, it was still the thing he looked forward to most every summer. Unfortunately, he and his dad could not go this year because John had to report to base early in the summer.
Now, Georgia isn’t Canada obviously, but I thought it would be the perfect way to send him off, so I went out and collected all the Georgia fly fishing guides I could find, and we sat down and planned it out.
