Moving From Paintball to Airsoft

Just a few short years ago, the game of choice among my friends was paintball. They’d gear up and head out to the nearest paintball field to shoot each other with exploding balls of paint. As they grew up, so did their game. The ones who still play live action shooting games like this have moved on from paintball and are now into Airsoft.

Airsoft is similar to paintball but it uses plastic BBs instead of balls of paint. There are also some differences in game style which have to do with tactics, terrain and equipment. People in the sport have traded up their paintball guns for more advanced military-style equipment like KWA guns and echo1 airsoft guns. The differences may seem slight to an outsider but they’re a big deal to the people involved in these games.

Although people of any age may be interested in playing Airsoft, this seems to be more of an adult game than paintball is. Not to say that adults don’t go paintballing but those adults who are really serious about paintball tend to eventually move up into the more advanced skill-based game of Airsoft. The difference is primarily in the image; paintball purports to be all about fun whereas Airsoft admits to being about warfare play.

Wedding Stationery and Other Things Girls are Supposed to Understand

I often joke that I was a slacker growing up and that I missed too many days of girl school. What I mean by that is that there are a lot of things that most girls seem to just automatically know which I just don’t completely understand.

In some ways, this is a good thing. For example, I rarely fight with my boyfriend because I don’t get mad about the things that girls apparently normally get mad about. It just doesn’t come naturally to me to bicker when he wants to go out with his friends or forgets to bring me roses on Valentine’s Day.

But sometimes it’s really inconvenient not to know about girly things. For example, a friend of mine called me to get an opinion on her wedding stationery. She was going on and on about whether she should get the frangipani wedding invitations or the tiger lily wedding invitations. I tried to be helpful but I really couldn’t understand what difference it would make to the wedding. (And yes, I had to look up frangipani!)

It’s not just that I can’t select wedding stationery. It’s that I sometimes get really bored in conversations with other girls because I don’t really care about the things that they’re talking about. But I’m trying to see it all as a learning experience. Who knows, maybe I’ll want frangipani on my stationery someday!

The Importance of Healthy Eating

It’s interesting to me how our culture is supposedly so obsessed with health, yet we’re the unhealthiest we’ve been in centuries.  Disease rates are way up and no one really has a concrete explanation.

A lot of people theorize that one of the reasons for the increase in diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and other such major killing diseases is that our diets — generally known as the Western diet — have gotten so bad.  Fast food, convenience foods, and even produce and meats are chock-full of artificial crap these days — food coloring and additives, growth hormone and antibiotics, etc.  Many people believe that it is our turning away from the diet nature intended — lots of fresh produce and a little meat, simple foods without all the additives — that has caused the increase in disease.

One of the best ways to learn to eat healthier is to take a nutrition class from a cooking school.  You can also take cooking classes that teach you how to properly plan and prepare a nutritious meal.  There are many culinary arts institutes that offer these kinds of classes.  And if you want to go all out, you can even look into culinary arts degrees, which would help you to not only feed your own family nutritious meals, but get a job where you have the opportunity to do the same for other families, too!

Custom New Home For Sale In Florida

Imagine that you are seeking out a new home for sale in Florida. If you were to come across an advertisement telling you that you could get a custom home built for the same price that you would purchase a new home that was already built, would you believe it? Many people think that custom homes have to be extremely expensive but the truth is that custom homes often don’t cost much more than other homes at all.

Perhaps you’ve never thought about contacting custom home builders in Tampa or looking at Dunnellon custom homes. That doesn’t mean that it’s too late. Anyone who has an interest in the purchase of a new home anywhere in Florida can at least take the time to consider buying a home that is custom designed to suit their real estate needs.

The key to making sure that you keep costs down is to set a budget and to discuss that budget up front with the people who you are asking to design and build this place for you. You’ll also need to be a little bit flexible about certain design choices if they aren’t going to fit into your budget. Just keep in mind that you’d rather have some things that you design yourself than to purchase a home as is and you should find yourself satisfied with the results of your custom Florida home.

Where oh Where did the Water Meter Guy Go?

I can remember watching the water meter guy go from house to house when I was a kid.  We had a huge water meter on the north side of our house, and he would come on foot, write down the reading, and go on to the next house.

Since I played outside a lot as a kid, I saw him walking from house to house quite often.  The first time I really took notice, I was worried about who he was.  I ran to my mom, and she explained it to me.  "He has to take readings from the meters to see how much water we’ve used," she said.

I don’t know when I stopped seeing the water meter guy, but these days it’s all done electronically.  The meters give off a reading that the water meter guy’s handheld machines pick up when they pull their truck up in front of each house.  No more walking from house to house — just driving and letting the machines do the footwork, so to speak.  It’s probably a good thing, because at the house I live in now, the water meter is inside the basement!

There have been huge advancements in water meters and other types of liquid flow calibrator since I was a kid, it seems.  For instance, a company called Sierra Instruments makes a type of ultrasonic water flowmeter that can be installed without even turning off the flow of liquid within the pipe.  I don’t even pretend to know how that works — but thankfully, I don’t have to.  I only have to sit back and enjoy the convenience that these advancements produce in my life!
