Treating Horseback Riding Injuries

Last night, I fell from my horse.  It’s not the first time I’ve fallen, but it was the worst I’ve experienced.  My horse was especially eager to get home last night, and cut the corner too sharp turning onto the driveway.  He scraped my right leg back against the mailbox, scared himself silly, and bolted downhill down the driveway toward the barn.  I was unbalanced from my leg being behind me, and nose-dived right over his left shoulder.  I landed right on my left hip.

My first lucid thought was that I’d broken my hip.  (My next was to ask my friend, who had dismounted and run over to check on me, to go catch my horse.)  Once I caught my breath I found I could stand and walk.  Unfortunately, that night my hip hurt any time I tried to bear weight on my left leg.  Fortunately, I was able to put weight on it today, and walk (if a little stiffly).

While I was looking for a way to relieve the pain, I came across something called the QuadraBloc by Gradient Medical.  Basically it uses medical magnets for chronic pain management.  It’s apparently a popular drug-free alternative to traditional sports injuries treatment, back pain treatment, and other kinds of pain management.  I wonder if it would work with horseback riding injuries too?

This isn’t me, but the way he falls is pretty much the way I imagine I fell, except I nose-dived over my horse’s left shoulder instead of his right, and I wasn’t bareback.
