The Importance of Healthy Eating

It’s interesting to me how our culture is supposedly so obsessed with health, yet we’re the unhealthiest we’ve been in centuries.  Disease rates are way up and no one really has a concrete explanation.

A lot of people theorize that one of the reasons for the increase in diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and other such major killing diseases is that our diets — generally known as the Western diet — have gotten so bad.  Fast food, convenience foods, and even produce and meats are chock-full of artificial crap these days — food coloring and additives, growth hormone and antibiotics, etc.  Many people believe that it is our turning away from the diet nature intended — lots of fresh produce and a little meat, simple foods without all the additives — that has caused the increase in disease.

One of the best ways to learn to eat healthier is to take a nutrition class from a cooking school.  You can also take cooking classes that teach you how to properly plan and prepare a nutritious meal.  There are many culinary arts institutes that offer these kinds of classes.  And if you want to go all out, you can even look into culinary arts degrees, which would help you to not only feed your own family nutritious meals, but get a job where you have the opportunity to do the same for other families, too!
