The Basics of Dahn Yoga

Founded by South Korean educator, Ilchi Lee, Dahn yoga places equal emphasis on physical, emotional and spiritual well being. This style of yoga combines breathing, stretching and meditation with the goal of improving one’s health, happiness and inner peace.

Breakdown of a Class
The purpose of Dahn yoga is to improve your overall health through the development of your energy system and enhancement of the mind-body relationship.

1). Most classes start with what is known as “Meridian Stretching.” This exercise is intended to stimulate the body’s energy.

2). After stretching, a class will typically follow a sequence of body postures. These specific postures are meant to circulate the body’s energy.

3). Then, meditation is used to calm the body and positively reflect.

4). The class is concluded and usually followed by hot tea with the instructor and fellow classmates.

If you wish to practice Dahn yoga in California, you are in luck. There are Dahn yoga centers in Beverly Hills, Glendale, San Mateo, and all over CA! And, if you reside on the east coast, in an area like New York City, you won’t be left out. NYC Dahn yoga centers can be found in Union Square, Manhattan, and plenty of other places in and around the city.

Find a Dahn yoga center to meet your personal needs and start living the healthy life you deserve.
