When I got married three years ago, one of my most memorable experiences was moving to our new home.  I married in my middle thirties while my wife was about the same age so we had ample to time to save from our income to purchase a new house.

We did not loan so when we settled in, we did not have enough money to buy furniture.  But it did not really matter, the important things was we had our house debt-free.

And by some good luck, our close relatives’ presents were mostly furniture.  The good thing was that we got nice bedroom furniture.

Both of us think that we should put emphasis on our bed because we spend a lot of time in our lifetime on it.  Even though we did not have much money then, we spent the little money left on a good bedroom set.  Our bed is huge and our headboard was made of hardwood with nice Aztec carvings from South America.

Our advice to newly settled couple is to buy only the best stuff for your bedroom.  This room has to be cozy because a lot of intimacy and strong bonding happen there.  As for us, we can say that our marriage gets stronger everyday because we always make it a point to talk, plan and settle issues before going to bed every night.
